Speaker 1:

KIERSTEN LUCAS

Parnter | Stephenson Harwood

Kiersten is a Dubai based partner and heads the Dubai employment team. She is a highly regarded and valued member of the firm’s international elite-ranked employment team and is known for providing commercial, pragmatic solutions tailored to her clients’ needs. 

She has extensive experience advising on all aspects of the employment life cycle, with expertise in high value litigation, restrictive covenants and protection of confidential information, data protection and privacy, employment law aspects and implications of regulatory contraventions, remuneration arrangements and senior executive appointments and terminations. 

Her work regularly involves matters spanning multiple jurisdictions, including parallel litigations or investigations. As well as providing operational and strategic advice to clients both UAE and free zone-specific employment legislation such as the DIFC.

JONATHAN KIRSOP

Partner | Stephenson Harwood

Jonathan is a London based partner who leads the firm’s global data protection and information law practice and is known for providing pragmatic and practical advice assisted by his experience on secondment at the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and certain global banks. 

Jonathan provides advice on a wide range of international data protection matters including GDPR compliance, international data transfers, subject access requests and disclosures to regulators. 

He is a regular visitor to Dubai where he works with the Stephenson Harwood office in delivering data privacy advice and training particularly in the context of employment matters.

EMILY ARYEETEY

Senior Associate | Stephenson Harwood

Emily is an experienced employment law specialist with a background in advising employers and employees on data protection issues both in the UK under the Data Protection Act 1998 and in the UAE (in relation to complying with DIFC and UAE Federal laws which relate to employee privacy and data protection). 

In particular she is a specialist on transferring data out of the jurisdiction and harmonising global data protection policies for international clients. 

Her UK experience had particular focus on advising employers on complying with requests for data subject access and on issues arising in the context of corporate transactions, recruitment, and on termination of employment when processing and disclosing personal data to prospective employers, government agencies and other third parties.
